What is this service and what is it for?

Blipcard^® is a service for hosting business cards in electronic format with interactivity functions and compatibility that allow you to overcome many of the limitations of cards printed on paper or plastic. Its distinct format allows it to be used as an independent and cross-platform application in virtually all Internet browsers with support for HTML5 and JavaScript languages.

Ditch paper and plastic business cards

Since 2010, our service has been presented as an alternative to traditional business cards given that its fundamental principle is portability and interoperability between the largest possible number of devices with Internet access. Instead of the traditional format, our cards have no space limit for text or characters and have the ability to interact with the most diverse electronic equipment.

Cards have been available in Portugal since 2009

The service was made available in an experimental format in 2009 and has been developed exclusively by Pulsaris since 2010. Initially this service was integrated into our range of experimental projects, having initially been made available to Portuguese users in a test format with the phase designations "Alpha" and "Beta".*

In 2016 we decided to make our service available in a final format, with our service officially designated as Cartão de Negócio^® and allowing the registration of any user residing in Portugal or in the European Union community space.

* As a way of saying thank you, the initial users started to enjoy our service free of charge with access to a special edition with the designation "Early Bird" - in Portuguese "Pássaro Madrugador".

An economical option with efficient use of resources

All of our users' cards have a sober and functional "front and back" format that, with a size smaller than an old 3.5-inch floppy disk, allow simplified access to their contacts and various interaction functions that They are not normally present in versions printed on paper or plastic material.

Furthermore, you can add a short video or an original high-resolution image with photographic quality to give a distinctive look to your professional activity.

User information is displayed on an interactive website that adapts easily and automatically to visitors' devices. The screen adaptation technology is identical to that used on adaptive format websites, ensuring compatibility.

This feature allows cards to be quickly viewed on small screens (mobile phones, smartphones), medium screens (tablets), large screens (laptops, stationary computers, game consoles) or "very large" screens (full-size televisions). HD, 4K televisions, high-resolution cinema projectors).

More attractive rate compared to physical prints

Starting from a free subscription (€0.00/month)* and with no Internet traffic limit, these arguments become almost by themselves enough for this to be an obvious choice compared to orders placed for traditional printing on paper or plastic material.

Small size and interoperability philosophy

The application has an extremely small size (less than 600KB) and allows the most diverse interaction functions to be incorporated into an interactive micro-website with an adaptive visual format, through the use of locations in URL format and in URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) format.

Interoperability is a factor of great importance given that, since our initial phase, our users' cards can only be consulted using an Internet browser. These web browsing applications are and will continue to be present in practically all operating systems in order to allow access to the Internet. Presentation in Web App format allows us to maintain our compatibility and ensure the modernity of our cards.

Framework embedding with Open-source code

In addition, in February 2018 we began to use almost entirely a development structure in an "open-source" format, which allows us to use the existing code in our cards more efficiently. The conversion process was carried out with relative ease given the exclusive use of JavaScript, CSS and HTML5 language in our previous programming code.

The option to use open-source technology also offers additional security conditions, as it frees us from the process of maintaining and correcting flaws in the JavaScript code.

* We started using a structure called Bootstrap^® which is permanently supervised by a development team at Twitter Inc.^®. Using this development structure (framework) means that a significant portion of the code is subject to an MIT and CC BY 3.0 license with very specific terms of use in the solutions Cartão de Negócio^® and Blipcard^®.
